AP — Initial waves not causing significant damage: "The first waves looked more like an extreme fluctuation in the tide than the giant tsunami that Hawaii and the rest of the Pacific Ocean were bracing for after the magnitude-8.8 quake devastated Chile. The wave began affecting Hilo Bay on the Big Island just before noon local time. Water began pulling away from shore, exposing reefs and sending dark streaks of muddy, sandy water offshore. Water later washed over Coconut Island, a small park off the coast of Hilo. The tsunami was causing a series of surges that were about 20 minutes apart, and the waves arrived later and smaller than originally predicted. The highest wave at Hilo measured 5.5 feet high, while Maui saw some as high as 6 feet. "
Today our union takes the next step in our negotiations. I hope something can be worked out and we do not have to go on strike.

Today I used the power of " The Secret " to manifest my flight to JFK canceling and me getting to come home. Well, I am happy to report, it worked! After a 3 hour delay, we got the good news!! (Well, good for me). Now I can watch the Olympics and American Idol from my couch, WAHOO!!

We are on Day 1 of a cold snap, that is pretty much affecting the entire country. Right now in Boston its 16 degrees and the windchill (what it feels like) -1 degree!! I have only one thing to say about that, " Gross!!"
A man was pulled from rubble in Haiti's capital on Tuesday, two weeks after a 7.0-magnitude earthquake leveled much of the city, officials said. Ricot Duprevil, 31, was in stable condition at a medical facility where he was being treated for a broken leg, medical and rescue officials told CNN. Duprevil had access to water while he was trapped, the officials said. The man was discovered by the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division's Delta Company during a rubble-clearing mission in downtown Port-au-Prince.
